The Pets Currently In Our Home

Two dogs, one cat, three bearded dragons, three fire bellied toads, one aquarium, two koi in the pond, and two parrots.

Saber: Black Tabby (felis domesticus)
Saber was a stray kitten that found us in the middle of 1998. We assume she was about 3 or 4 months of age at the time. Saber is a vibrant black tabby that loves to agitate the dogs at all times! No one is to question her leadership of the home. She does what she wants, when she wants to, and anyone that gets in her way will be re-trained kitty style! When she's not training the dogs (whom need to be re-trained every week lol) she's a loving, cuddling, purring kitty that adores snuggle time. The interesting thing about Saber is that she doesn't like red or white meat such as steak, chicken, pork or most fish. Her tastes are bit finicky in that she'll ignore the sardines but cannot resist fresh crab leg meat!

Chelsea: Whippet / Shepherd Mix
Chelsea has an estimated birth date of November 11th 2002. She was dumped off in front of a local Pet Supermarket starved, beaten, and infected with parasites. She should have weighed approximately 60lbs when she was dumped but instead only weighed 16lbs. She was dying. After some hefty vet time, medication, cleaning, loving, and feeding, she became a loving and intelligent young lady.

We obtained Chelsea on September 12, 2003. She is now up to a normal weight (averaging around 60lbs) and healthy. Chelsea quickly learned how to sit, stay, lay down, shake etc. Sadly, what took her the longest was learning how to receive love. Fortunately she now understands how good it feels to be pet and played with and enjoys every second of it!

Polo: Rottweiler
Polo, our male rottweiler, was adopted from the SPCA on November 5th, 2004. He was about 6 years old at that time. Though he seemed to have struck passer byers as an "old mean looking dog" he touched our hearts immediately with a big "happy go lucky" look on his face and his need for lots of loving affection. Polo has continued to capture our hearts more and more each day that he is with us. He's a 100lb teddy bear with a personality like no other.

Nikki: Female Congo African Grey Talking Parrot
Nikki was hatched on Jan 11th 2002. She was brought home in April of 2002 not quite weaned. We hand fed Nikki for about another month. Nikki began saying her first human words at 7 month's of age. Nikki currently has her own little InterNest located at www.Picolio.com/Nikki/

Nikko: Congo African Grey Talking Parrot
Nikko was hatched on Dec 22, 2001 making him just a few weeks older than Nikki. Nikko is a 'second-hand' parrot that joined our family on Jan 9, 2004. He's quite the character with a whole slew of sound effects that include backing up truck beeps, Nextell Cell Phone Rings, FAX Machines, Quacking Ducks, Beepers, Hello, Pretty Bird and more.... Nikko seems to enjoy showing off to Nikki and vise versa :).

One male, Two Female Bearded Dragons (Sandfire X German Giant)
These three dragons were shipped in on Jan 22, 2004 as just 3 month old babies. They are about as gentle and cute as it gets when it comes to lizards. It's always a joy to watch them interact in their own ways. These particular dragons did have flaws in the area of missing toes and tail tips but overall they are healthy phenomenal creatures!

Firebelly Toads
Gorgeous lil toads that are enjoyable to observe as they hop around in their running waterfall, burrowing into their planted aquarium, and swimming around in their miniature pond. A fairly easy pet to keep with a high return in the area of beauty and enjoyment!
