It's finally our one month anniversary with Scooter. We've become a great deal more comfortable with her, and she has with us. She appears content in her environment. She eats well. She basks normally. She enjoys following the her fishies around. Everything appears great...except her plastron. Over the past weeks it has gotten worse. Now it just looks awful.
Something just has to be done. Knowing now what I didn't know then I cannot allow this to continue. It's obvious that R&R is not going to help this turtle heal. There MUST be more to it.
I decided to take closer pics of her injury and post it online for other turtle owners to give their opinions. Since the injury has grown and is darker it can be seen more easily in the pics.
As you can see... it's just not looking so good.
 Scooter's Plastron Infection |
People suggested drydocking Scooter to give her plastron a dry area to heal. However, shortly after posting the pics again I began to stress excessively about the problem. I started looking closer at her older pics and comparing them to her more recent pics. Whatever this problem was..it was growing. Like an infection.... a fungal infection....shell rott.... There was a PROBLEM!
I decided to do more research on local area vets and find a different vet for Scooter to visit. I needed an educated eye and I needed help for the poor girl.
