Scooter was found working her way through the drive-thru lane of a Taco Bell around 10pm on December 5th 2002. She had a semi-soft pinkish patch on the lower side of her plastron that streamed up the seam of her plastron to a smaller patch of the same. Upon cleaning Scooter up we noted that she had a long streak of shell damage that appeared to be a run of nicks from sliding upside down. As part of the clean-up process three small leeches were removed from Scooters body.

Knowing nothing about turtles we quickly began searching the internet for information while Scooter waited patiently in the bathtub for us to get a clue. One of the best sites we found for learning more about the turtle is located at http://www.TurtleTimes.com

The following morning we made a veterinary appointment for Scooter with what we felt would be a qualified vet for helping us to ensure Scooter was ok and to develop a plan of action.
