Calamity & Hydra's Story:
Recovering Female Northern Diamondback Terrapins

Day 4: Fun in the Sun!

At 9am this morning the girls were given another nice soak in clean waters followed by a food offering. Hydra refused to eat again and Calamity ate half of a smelt. Both are still refusing other forms of food completely. Hydra also had a white mucusy discharge that was released in her urin today. I believe it was urites which would be a sign of dehydration.. so she's talked me into more water time, just in case.

Thanks to the Florida Weather providing us with a 75 degree F day, both girls spent the day outside in a kiddie pool with approx 2 inches of water and a basking shelf in hopes of encouraging them to bask on their own. Unfortunately they never made this choice, but they did get to spend the day outside anyway.

At approx 5pm they brought in for more food offerings, again Calamity had a smelt and Hydra refused to eat. After that they were soaked in a salt bath for about an hour and then given their Nolvason bath. From there it was back to the dry dock tub in the quiet dark bathroom for the evening. Tomorrow should bring 80 degree F weather and more time outside for them.
